Swimming pool thermal energy storage, an alternative for distributed cooling energy storage

The rise in distributed renewable energy generation creates a growing need to find viable solutions for storage match demand and supply at any time. This paper evaluates the possibility of using swimming pools as long-term cooling solution, i.e., Swimming Pool Thermal Energy Storage (SPTES). technology allows small building store solar purposes yearly cycle, by filling pool with ice slurry winter that cool house summertime. Additionally, can be used heat sink pump during winter. Results show cost 0.078 US$ kWhe?1 is substantially smaller when compared batteries (125 kWhe?1). makes SPTES good alternative support development 100% systems locations where climate has highly seasonal variation temperature high summer.
